Paraplast Tissue Embedding Media

All Paraplast tissue embedding media are a combination of highly purified paraffin and several plastic polymers which give the wax a greater tensile strength and elasticity. This results in greater compressibility (without crumbling) during sectioning, rapid infiltration and thinner sections which flatten in a thermostatically controlled water bath.

Paraplast regular is recommended for general tissue embedding use and has a 56o C ASTM melting point. 

Paraplast Plus is recommended for large tissue or tissue which normally presents infiltration problems and has a 56o C ASTM melting point. 

Paraplast X-TRA is recommended for lower temperature infiltration, preventing tissue distortion and has a 50-54o C ASTM melting point.

Plastic Base Mold

Disposable plastic base molds are economical enough to be discarded but strong enough to reuse. Molds are made from specially formulated plastic, offering excellent thermal exchange. A smooth interior finish and round corners facilitate specimen removal. Available in common base mold sizes, can be used with the same styles and types of cassettes and embedding rings. Sold in packs of 500.

Metal base molds are tough, reusable type 304 stainless steel. Smooth finish and rounded corner make cleanup fast and easy. Sides are winged for sure handling, with base fins for added stability. Totally compatible with most commonly used embedding equipment. Sold in packs of 12.
